Watching videos online considered “downloading”? @ how much?

Alan asked:

I just got satalight internet yesterday(wildblue) and I was woundering if watching clips like music videos on youtube, yahoo music, etc is concidered “downloading” to my computer. Or how much is it. The reason I ask becuase my upload threshold is 2,300mb a month and download threshold is 7,500mb a month and I do alot of downloading. About how much does it “download” to you computer just while watching online? I know just browsing pictures n stuff takes a little bit and I just didnt want to go over. It’s been one day and I already downloaded like 540mbs!
Thanks

also what about games and pictures?!

Yes, everything you do online is reagarded as downloading at one point or another. Watching videos raises the downloads by a considerable amount, but it also depends on the video you are watching. The more clearer the video, the larger the video and the longer a video runs for makes for a big download.

Generally, pictures are usually pretty light, but games (I am assuming online play) can be an excessive amount if you are on for long periods, but games also add significantly to your upload threshold as well.

Watching videos is not downloading, merely watching them. However, I believe there’s a way to download them if you want. However, I’m not really sure as I try to save up my hard drive space.

Each movie is different in size so I can’t say honestly what exactly it will be. However, even if you stream the movies they are still coming to your PC so yes watching movies is going to suck up that download threshold. Basically any type of site, picture, movie, game, etc that you watch is considered downloading. Because it is getting put on your PC temperarly. So I’d be careful how much you watch. 7.5 gigs of internet bandwith is not that much at all. I’ve downloaded movies bigger then that in one day. So be careful. BTW where do you live that you would have to go with that type of ISP instead of cable or dsl or GOD FORBID!!! dial up?

Videos take up alot of space and have virus. Music not to much space but they all can give you a ctd ( computer transmitted diseases )
